Congratulations to Kashandra Murphy! She received a Junior League of Texarkana Teacher Take Wing Grant in the amount of $500. The funding will support her Reading and Writing Beyond and Into the World project. Ms. Murphy said, “The idea behind this project is to expose my scholars to more than just traditional stories and texts, by offering doors to new worlds and diverse viewpoints.” The materials purchased with the grant will have the power to foster a lifelong love of reading and to build and support passionate writers. “Not only do I want to add to my classroom library, but I also want to revitalize it as a haven reflecting the many experiences and curious minds of my scholars. By doing this, I hope to spark tenacity, inquisitiveness, and a hunger for knowledge that continues to create a classroom atmosphere where every scholar's story enriches the larger picture.”
