Since its constructions in 1931, The United States Post Office and Courthouse has remained the most prominent structure in Texarkana, mainly due to its unique location. Unlike any other federal building in the country, the United States Post Office and Courthouse straddles the boundary between the states of Arkansas and Texas. Symmetrical with respect to the state line, the gray Arkansas Limestone building is a rectangular steel and concreate structure composed of five stories. The architecture of the building is Beaux Arts in form and organization, with occasional Art Deco features. In the year 2000, The United States Post Office and Courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
